New student applications now being accepted for Fall 2008, graduate deadline Feb 1, 2008

NEWCOMB ART RECEPIENT OF GRANTS

The Avenues to Renewal, the Technology Services Strategic Plan, has awarded Newcomb Art Department three major grants in 2007 and 2008.

In 2007, the department was awarded a grant to convert all of the lecture and seminar classrooms in Woldenberg into "smart rooms." In 2008, Freeman Auditorium will join the ranks of upgraded rooms with a new sound system and digital projection capabilities. In addition, Newcomb Art Department was awarded a continuing grant to cover Luna Imaging, that will now be open access software used across Tulane for image database collections.

The upgraded classrooms and auditorium technology sustain and enhance the University’s on-going shift in focus to integrating modern technology with the teaching and learning experience. “Smart” classrooms and advanced information technology facilitate greater interaction of faculty and students with information and knowledge, fostering new learning experiences. It also allows for a broader range of curriculum development, including online course instruction, digitally formatted coursework and study guides, and multimedia experiences within the class.
